		<title>Boot Camp Exercises for Bikini Buns</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&#8220;What do I need to do to get a nice butt?&#8221;</p>
<p>I hear that question nearly as often as, &#8220;How do I get a nice, flat stomach?&#8221;  Especially, from my female clients.</p>
<p>Build it and they will come!  When you address the needs and wants of your clients they will be much more likely to rave about their results to friends which means more clients for you.</p>
<p>When implemented with well rounded boot camp routines, they exercises will develop strong, toned backsides that will look good in bikinis and board shorts alike!</p>
<p><strong>1) </strong><strong>1-leg squats sitting back onto a bench into a forward lunge</strong></p>
<p>-  This is pretty much exactly as it sounds.  Ideally, you&#8217;ll have a bench of some sort to aid in the 1-leg squat which is a difficult exercise without.  Have your clients perform a single 1-leg squat immediately followed by a single forward lunge.  Perform 8-10 reps before switching legs.  This one is a killer and will add some variety to your arsenal.</p>
<p><strong>2) </strong><strong>Overhead Squats</strong></p>
<p>-  A barbell overhead squat is an advanced exercise that takes great flexibility and strength to perform properly.  A scaled back, &#8220;barbell-less&#8221; version is a great way to increase flexibility and squat form&#8230;not to mention a glute killer!  Simply instruct your clients to clasp their hands together and extend their arms (palms up, reaching for the sky) straight up behind their ears.  Perform 8-12 reps.</p>
<p>The key to good glute activation is proper form.  Hands high, arms behind the ears, and weight on the heels throughout the entire motion.  Squats performed with heels off the ground reduce glute activation and work primarily the quads in addition to putting excessive stress on the knees.</p>
<p><strong>3)  Crossover Lunges</strong></p>
<p>-  Again, this is just as it sounds.  Instead of bringing the lead leg straight forward, cross the lead leg over the rear leg.  Push off from the heel for maximum glute activation.  Perform 8-12 reps.</p>
<p><strong>4)  Squat Jumps</strong></p>
<p>-  Squat jumps not only blast the legs and glutes, they also get the heart rate going.  Proper technique is important here as well.  Majority of the movement occurs through the heels and hips with ankle extension occurring only during the jump.  Upon landing, it&#8217;s important to drive the hips down and back to really hit the buns.  My clients love to hate squat jumps!</p>
<p><strong>5)  Jumping Lunges</strong></p>
<p>-  Just as effective as jumping squats and a whole lot tougher (according to some).  Start in a lunge position with one foot forward and one behind.  Jump as high as possible and alternate legs in the air landing with the opposite foot in front.  Perform 10-12 reps on each leg.</p>
<p><strong>6)  Bounding</strong></p>
<p>-  There a number of variations of bounds that can be performed, but the two most basic are the two-legged &#8220;frog jump&#8221; and one-legged forward jump.  These are basically squat jumps, but instead of jumping straight up and down the goal is to jump as far forward as possible.  The landing and deceleration phase are important.  Use the legs, hips, and butt to absorb the landing keeping the knees behind the toes as best as possible.  Bounds are great for overall leg and glute development.</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t stress the importance of proper technique enough!  Squats and lunges performed on the toes will do very little for the glutes and are only good for burning quads.  Also, many people have weak glutes due to inactivity and poor posture which leads to buckling knees during the upward motion during squats and lunges.  Instruct your clients to push their knees outwards if you see that their knees are buckling inwards.  This will lead to much greater glute activation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Whether you believe that we&#8217;re still in a recession, on our way out, or in the clear, the bottom line is that things are not the same as they were two years ago.  People, for the most part, are much more conservative with their money and are more likely to save their money than they are to spend it on luxury items.  Furthermore, the credit crunch has limited many people&#8217;s ability to splurge on things they normally could not afford.  Personal training can probably be categorized in the &#8220;luxury&#8221; category because of the cost ($40 to $100+ per hour) and the fact that it isn&#8217;t a necessity.  At the same time, physical inactivity and poor nutrition contribute to the $147 billion annual cost of obesity.  Education of proper nutrition and exercise is more important than ever, but one-on-one personal training is too expensive for most people.</p>
<p>Fitness boot camps have become a popular way for many to get help from health and fitness experts.  Fitness boot camps provide an effective way to get help without breaking the bank.  While they may not be &#8220;one-on-one,&#8221; boot camps still provide the structure and motivation so many need when it comes to an exercise regime.  Even better, they can be the best way to melt away body fat with their combination of cardio and resistance training.  Boot camp workouts are typically structured in a circuit-style manner where there is very little down-time and a lot of calorie burning exercises.  The fast pace of the circuits combined with the group atmosphere are a fun and effective way to get results quickly for those who are willing to work hard.</p>
<p>How are boot camps a win-win?  For one, they save clients a ton of money over one-on-one training sessions.  Boot camps typically cost anywhere from $10 to $30 per session versus the $40 to $100+ per session good trainers charge for personal training sessions.  Some boot camps even charge a flat monthly rate for unlimited sessions.  Trainers, on the other hand, can make more money in less time with fitness boot camps.  Twenty clients paying $10 per session equals out to $200; not a bad hourly rate.  One session per day, 5 days a week pays out $1000 per week.  Any trainer will tell you that $48k per year is a good income especially with only 1 hour of work per day.  Most trainers have to work 8-12 hour days to earn that kind of income.  Trainers who are savvy in their marketing can easily push the six figure income mark.</p>
<p>Building a six figure boot camp business may sound ambitious and out-of-reach to some, but it&#8217;s easier than many might think.  With the proper marketing plan and a little hard work, a six figure boot camp can be built from scratch in just a few short months.  There are millions of people out there who need and want help with their health and fitness goals, but can&#8217;t afford traditional personal training.  The personal trainers who provide an affordable solution with fitness boot camps and group exercise programs will have a lucrative, long-lasting business on their hands.</p>

<p>When you travel, you worry about missing your workouts and eating poorly&#8230;So you must plan ahead for both (apples and almonds for planes, trains, &#038; automobiles)&#8230;and bodyweight circuits for &#8220;no-equipment fat burning&#8221;.  These bodyweight circuits can double as great workouts for your fitness boot camps, as well!</p>
<p>And while I have bodyweight exercises that are just as hard as the bench press and barbell squat in one of my bodyweight workouts, today we&#8217;ll focus on replacing intervals with bodyweight circuits.</p>
<p>To do a bodyweight circuit&#8230;</p>
<p>a) Pick 3 lower body exercises</p>
<p>b) Pick 3 upper body exercises</p>
<p>c) Alternate between a lower and upper body exercise without rest, till you are done all 6 exercises</p>
<p>d) Rest a minute.</p>
<p>e) Repeat 2-3 more times until you are done 20 minutes</p>
<p>For example, this is a great circuit that doesn&#8217;t need any equipment</p>
<p>1) Prisoner Squat (12 repetitions)<br />
2) Elevated Pushups (8 reps per side)<br />
3) Single-Leg Deadlift (10 reps per side)<br />
4) Close-grip Pushups (As many reps as possible)<br />
5) Jumping Jacks (30-60 reps)<br />
6) Cross-Body Mountain Climber (12 reps per side)</p>
<p>Whew. That&#8217;s pretty advanced&#8230;for a beginner, we&#8217;d slow it down like this and take some breaks between exercises&#8230;</p>
<p>1) Wall Squat (8 reps)<br />
2) Kneeling Elevated Pushup (5 reps per side)<br />
3) Lying 1-leg Hip Extension (8 reps per side)<br />
4) Plank (30 second hold)<br />
5) Jumping Jacks (5-10 reps)<br />
6) Side Plank (15 second hold per side)</p>
<p>So whether you&#8217;re on the road and need a kick-ass workout you can do in your hotel room or you&#8217;re looking for some workouts for your boot camps, this circuit should get the job done!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As a health and fitness specialist (aka personal trainer) you can rest assured that you don&#8217;t have to worry about job security.  Physical inactivity has been called the greatest epidemic or our time.  There are a lot of people that need help and many money making opportunities in the health and fitness industry.</p>
<p>That doesn&#8217;t mean that there isn&#8217;t competition and that the money comes easy.  Personal training takes a lot of time and we often find ourselves trading hours for dollars.  Unless you&#8217;re training the super rich, celebrities, or professional athletes you likely are not making the money you deserve and not helping as many people.</p>
<p>Boot camps are quickly becoming a popular to train clients.  It&#8217;s a win-win for both parties.  Fitness boot camps allow trainers to help more people and make more money while providing an affordable way for clients to get personal training.</p>
<p>If you are a personal trainer thinking about starting a fitness boot camp, here are some tips to help you get started.</p>
<p>1)  The first thing you need to do is decide who your boot camp will target.  There are many groups of people and occassions to which you can market your boot camp.  You can target brides-to-be, grooms-to-be, new moms, kids, bikini boot camps, abs, spring breakers, or just the general population looking to lose weight and get in shape.</p>
<p>Who you target will depend on what time of year it is, but there are always people with good reasons why they need to get in shape.  Determing who you will target will help you figure out how to market to your crowd.</p>
<p>2)  At the beginning of each boot camp you need to hold an &#8220;orientation&#8221; session.  This will allow you to lay the expectations for both yourself and the participants&#8230;they know what to expect of you and what you expect of them  This way, they&#8217;re mentally prepared for the experience in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>3)  Be creative!  Step outside the normal push-up, squat, lunge, and jumping jack routine.  Think up some fun games and exercises that get people moving and keep things fresh.  Push-ups, squats, lunges, and jumping jacks are good, but figure out a fun way to incorporate them into your boot camp workouts.  You&#8217;ll be amazed at the things you can do with grade school games such as tag and ultimate frisbee.  Find a local park and have a blast!</p>
<p>4)  Even though you&#8217;re training a group of people, it&#8217;s important that you pay attention to each individual client.  They&#8217;re paying you to train them so make sure that you&#8217;re meeting their needs and they are doing the right things to accomplish their goals.</p>
<p>5) While most boot camps are exercise oriented, you can&#8217;t forget about nutrition.  Nutrition is what will make or break a boot campers success.  There are two ways, or a combination of both, that you can do this.  The first is to hold a nutrition seminar to educate the participants on proper nutrition.  You can present general nutrition information and hold a Q&amp;A session at the end.</p>
<p>The best, yet most time consuming, way to do it is to schedule individual sessions with each boot camper to design specific nutrition plans.  I love doing this because it gives you the opportunity to really get to know each client and help them reach their goals.  This will help them tremendously and set you up with a long term client.  It will take more of your time, but it is definitely worth it.</p>
<p>Boot camps are a great way to increase your revenue and they can be an absolute blast.  Just make sure that you still pay attention to the needs of each individual.  Do this and you will have a lucrative business on your hands.</p>

- Jumping Jacks<br />
- Prisoner Squat<br />
- Off-Set Pushup<br />
- Duck Under<br />
- Arm Crosses<br />
- Rest 1 minute and repeat 1 more time.</p>
<p>Water Break &#8211; 1 minute</p>
<p>TT Strength Circuit (20 seconds per exercise) &#8211;  5 minutes<br />
- Vertical Jump or 1-Leg Deadlift (20 seconds  per side)<br />
- Spiderman Climb Pushup or T-Pushup<br />
- Optional: Pull-up, Inverted Row, or DB Row<br />
- Rest 1 minute and then repeat 1 more time.</p>
<p>Water Break &#8211; 1 minute</p>
<p>TT Depletion Circuit (20 seconds per exercise) &#8211;  10 minutes<br />
- Bodyweight Squat<br />
- Decline Pushup or Close-Grip Pushup<br />
- Reverse Lunge (20 seconds per side)<br />
- Cross-Body Mountain Climber<br />
- 1-Leg RDL (20 seconds per side)<br />

- Run in Place<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Let’s talk about the 2nd biggest mistake in most bootcamp workouts  that drives me freaking insane.</p>
<p>I saw a perfectly terrible example of it this  morning.</p>
<p>As you might know, I walk my puppy, Bally the  Dog, every morning here in Toronto, and five times per week we walk by a  bootcamp class.</p>
<p>And every single day these trainers are doing  something wrong.</p>
<p>Today, the big mistake was letting the class  do the exercises with bad form.</p>
<p>Back when I was training 8-12 clients per day,  I would get SEETHING mad watching other trainers put their clients  through exercises while allowing bad form.</p>
<p>I bet my BP went to 220/160 watching that  crap.</p>
<p>So negligent, and so ignorant.</p>
<p>Don’t you agree that this is irresponsible?</p>
<p>Teaching someone to do an exercise is NOT  hard!</p>
<p>I just don’t understand why trainers allow bad  form. So what if you are training 10-20 people at the same time,  there’s no reason to allow it.</p>
<p>I know you’re sitting there nodding your head  and agreeing with me.</p>
<p>I bet you see bad form all the time and it  probably makes you mad too.</p>
<p>So let’s agree to do something about it. Let’s  agree to commit to stressing proper form in our classes…after all, that  will give our clients BETTER results!</p>

		<title>5 Boot Camp Secrets to Get More Fat Burning Results for Your Clients</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was just reviewing a big file of all the new exercise, diet, and  research proven fat burning tips I wrote down for 2009, and I wanted to  share 5 BIGGIES that can help your clients get more results AND make  your awesome workers even awesome-r..</p>
<p>So here we go:</p>
<p><strong>#5 – Recent research shows  shuttle-running is tougher than running intervals in a straight line…</strong></p>
<p>…so if you want to help your clients burn fat  faster than ever, make sure you incorporate old-school shuttle runs  (i.e. classic suicide type drills) into your fat burning interval  programs.</p>
<p><strong>#4 – Encourage your clients to use a  food log. When they ask why, tell them I said so.</strong></p>
<p>No seriously, tell them this:</p>
<p>“According to Men’s Health (Feb 2009, p 38),  keeping a food log helped subjects lose 3.5 more pounds than subjects  that didn’t keep the log.”</p>
<p><strong>#3 – Demand that your clients hit a  personal best in each workout.</strong></p>
<p>This is an oldie, but a goodie. There are a  few reasons you need to do this:</p>
<p>a) First of all, everyone loves progress, and  if you can get them to achieve a record each workout (i.e. could be # of  pushups, plank time, etc.), then they will feel a HUGE sense of  accomplishment</p>
<p>b) More personal bests = more results. Plain  and simple.</p>
<p>c) They will get addicted to the workouts, and  always want to come back for more attempts at breaking records…thus  becoming raving fans of your camps and referral machines.</p>
<p><strong>#2 – Remind them that they need you,  and here’s the proof:</strong></p>
<p>“According to Men’s Health magazine, (Dec,  2009), beginners who work with trainers get more results than beginners  who workout by themselves”. Guaranteed.</p>
<p><strong>#1 – Bring a motivational quote to  every class.</strong></p>
<p>You might say it at the start, middle and end  of every class, or you might print it out and give everyone the quote to  take with them, or you might simply put it on your bootcamp’s Facebook  fan page every morning.</p>
<p>Regardless of how you deliver the motivation, I  promise you that it will keep your campers connected to you AND it will  elevate your expert status even more in their eyes.</p>
<p><strong>Here’s the first motivational quote you  can share with them:</strong></p>
<p>“Be loud and proud of the healthy changes you  are making in your life. There are many more folks secretly wishing  someone will take charge and be a healthy role model for them. It might  not happen overnight, but if you continue to lead by healthy example –  without preaching or being condescending – you can build an entourage  that will help you reach the next level.” – Craig Ballantyne</p>
